WURFL Project Integration at OpenSiteMobile
This site highlights our integration of WURFL Project XML data into our MobileSiteOS™ Basic
software. We manipulate WURFL
Data
and condense it down for our own purposes. A reduction of approximately 10:1. Once reduced,
we use it as pure Perl code. Thus for small websites, there is no need for another database
system, (ie: MySQL, etc.). Plus, detection is always by 'best guess' and does not require any
particular exact match of a user agent stirng. This provides better 'new device' detection for
new user agents that haven't been added to WURFL yet.
Please note: This is our original 'fixed width' website for
WURFL data integration and is no longer maintained (as of 11/22/2009). Please feel free to look around,
as it does offer a comparison of our evolution from static pages to dynamic page sizing. Our current
website can be found at
opensite.mobi.
Below are links to our demo. The first uses a typical index.html page which redirects to
our mobile.cgi script via an http-equiv="refresh" or by JavaScript. If JavaScript is available,
it is used to determine display size, otherwise WURFL detection is tried.
The second link forces our mobile.cgi script to use WURFL detection. This is just for demo purposes.
It also brings you to a page displaying the returned values of our WURFL detection process.
Try the
Demo
site with different mobile devices and see how it works.
